Wow!  I'm so excited to finally kick off this blog.  I've been attempting for over a year to pull together all the materials and information to kick off this website and it's finally time.  What, might you ask would take me so long?  Well, the idea behind conductingblog is bring together in one place as much information as possible about conducting and I needed the ability for people to blog, post videos and other content on the web.  I think I'm finally bringing it all together.  I've learned a lot in my 7 years conducting that I'd love to share with the rest of the world.  But, even more importantly, I realize that there are others out there with vastly more experience that could share their wisdom if they had a place to do it.  I hope conductingblog can become that place.

What does conductingblog have to offer?  Well, first and foremost, conductingblog is a blog as its name would suggest.  It is my hope to bring here some of the greatest conductors, conducting teachers, composers and musicians from around the world to share their thoughts on the art of music.  Whether its through them blogging (more on that in a later blog post) or the regular podcasts I'll be doing (hoping for weekly, but will have to start monthly for now), I hope to bring the musical world a little bit closer to all of us.

In addition to the blog features on this, I have a video sharing capability that I'll be putting online in the next few weeks to month.  It's akin to something like YouTube but it'll be focused almost solely on music and music-related video footage.  I already have some video snippets that'll be great to show good conducting technique and I can imagine an almost infinite number of good performances that we could showcase here.  To me at least, the possibilities for this site are immense and I look forward to working together to build something great for the music community.  See you soon!
